Hallway breathes like lungs of a stranger,

knocks in Morse I never learned in our song.

Chain lock rattles out a warning,

voice too smooth where the cracks belong.

If home is heart, then heart is beating

out the back—so I’m gone, gone, gone.

In the pool, neon ripples break my name,

Logan floating, moonlight soldered to my skin.

Chlorine lungs exhale the day’s champagne,

every splash a reset, every sink a begin.

Beneath the hush, bass drums in my chest,

heartbeats sync with the filter’s sigh.

I’m half-drunk on starlight, half-blessed,

letting the deep end answer why.

Tonight the water forgives the years,
