Neon rivers sigh beneath chromium skies,
Tin-can titans tango with the moon’s silver eyes;
Jazz drips from fire escapes, saxophones cry,
Midnight elevators climb clear up to why.
I’m a shadow in spats, tap-dancing on wires,
Chasing a heart that flickers, then expires;
Steel orchards bloom, yet nobody reaps—
Only the city, only the city never sleeps.
